I just got my windows tinted, and there are water bubbles in it, will they go away?
It is normal for water bubbles to be visible right after the tint is applies. However, as the film cures, it will tighten up and the tiny bubbles will gradually dry up and re-seal to the glass. The drying times vary depending on whether it’s car or flat glass tint, as well as, the quality of film. Higher quality films take much longer. Please call us if you have questions as to how long your drying time will most likely be.
The tinting on my windows is hazy. Will this go away?
Haziness is from the curing process of the adhesives on the tint. Depending on the quality and thickness of film the haziness can take up to 6 months to completely go away.
How durable is tinting?
Window tinting is extremely durable. The hard scratch-resistant coating found on quality window tint products is designed to stand up to everyday use including pets and kids. Higher quality films will have a thicker scratch coating much like eyeglasses when they are scratch coated. Be careful with sharp objects and hard edges just as you would with glass without tinting.
Can you have window tinting applied to your windows in wet or cold weather?
Yes, our professional window installers can successfully tint your windows even in freezing weather. However, it may increase the drying time.
How do I clean my windows after they have the window tint on them?
We recommend a non-ammonia cleaner and a soft cloth. Vinegar and water or mild dish soap and water would be fine. We also have a window tint cleaner available in our store for purchase.
How much does tinting cost?
Prices vary between auto films and flat glass. Prices also vary between quality and colors of film. Price also depends on flat glass if there are ladders or other equipment needed. Please call us to have an exact price quote on a vehicle or schedule a time for us to give you a free in-home estimate.
What if I'm not satisfied with the tinting?
Tint Wizard guarantees your satisfaction.
Will window film kill my house plants?
In most cases, tinting your windows will not negatively affect your plants. In fact, some of your plants may actually do better. If you are concerned about a particular plant, try moving it to an area with less sunlight for a few days prior to installation and see how it does. The plants will most likely got through an adjustment period.
Will solar films help to reduce fading?
Absolutely, solar film will reduce the risk of fading. Most films reduce 99.5% of Ultra-violet rays. However, there is a large misconception about the UV being the only causes of fading. In reality, only 40% of fading is caused by UV, the other factors being, 25% of heat, 25% visible light, and the other 10% is miscellaneous factors like age or quality of the product being effected.
Will window tinting make the room dark?
Flat glass window films are designed to still allow the natural light to enter the room filtering out the harsh heat, glare and UV that causes damage. There are, however, specialty films designed to darken a room.
Does tinting make glass safer?
Definitely, an object that would shatter regular glass has another layer of protection on a window that has been tinted. While the object if moving fast enough could penetrate the window, the rest of the glass would be held in place by the film.
Are your installers certified?
All of our installers are certified, experienced, and receive extensive training.
I have blinds. Do I still need solar films?
While blinds are effective at reducing the amount of light in a room, they are unable to reduce the heat. This is because there is a gap between the glass and the blinds. Heat builds up in this area, and radiates through the blinds. Solar films reduce the heat at the source.
What does the warranty cover?
Tint Wizard has a manufacturer’s lifetime warranty against bubbling among many other problems that can occur. This goes for vehicles as well as home or flat glass. ALL of our warranties are not only lifetime, but nationwide and transferable to a new owner. The manufacturer designs their products to truly last a lifetime and not just for as long as you own the vehicle or home.
What causes bubbling in tint?
Tint that bubbles over time is caused by one of 2 reasons:
1) Low quality film that doesn’t heat and shrink properly, so when applied to a rounded window there is nowhere for the folds to go but up, which causes the lifting in some places and not others, creating an illusion of the bubbles. This problem generally applies to automobile tinting and not flat glass as in homes.
2) Dirty installation. When the glass is not properly sterilized before installation of the window film, it causes dust or dirt to be trapped in between them. The particle of dust or dirt creates an air pocket (usually not visible by the naked eye at first). Over a period of months or even years, this tiny air pocket gets heated up by the sun. We all know that when air heats up, it expands, thus creating a bigger and bigger air bubble over time. This process is 90% of the reason that tint bubbles.
I’m aware that window tint blocks heat, but what if I like the heat coming through in the winter to help heat up my home?
That is a great question! In climates such as ours where we have harsh winters, we like to use a film that is a little bit lighter than we would use in climates such as Arizona or Texas. This still blocks up to 75% of the heat in the summer, but allows some of the solar heating to warm up the home in the winter. It’s the best of both worlds. Our Panorama line also has an extra layer of film that insulates the glass and is rated for the “U” factor. It is used to insulate our windows against the extreme cold weather we experience here in our state. So a “darker” film is not necessarily the best film for home use in our climate, unless your biggest concern is heat in the summer. These films are so technologically advanced now that we can find a film to fit just about any application or need. I’m hearing about the tax credits for energy efficiency upgrades to a home. How do they work and what do they mean to me?
According to the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009, the federal government is offering tax credits for energy-efficient home improvements including windows, doors, roofs, insulation, HVAC, and non-solar water heaters. The government credits have been put in place to help stimulate the economy as well as to raise the awareness for the importance of energy efficiency. Under Section 25C of the Internal Revenue Code (I.R.C.), Qualifying window film installations from Jan. 1, 2009 through Dec. 31, 2010, are now eligible for a maximum tax credit of 30% of the window film cost up to $1,500 instead of the previous 10% up to $500. Tax credits are not to be confused with deductions. Credits are taken from/added to, the bottom line of what you owe/refund. This credit is in addition to any past credit that may have previously been used. There are specific restrictions to this code. Please research the restrictions or call Kim at 801-589-0779 to learn more.
